About us – Rogier, Iris & Jimmie

We are Rogier, Iris and Jimmie. We’ve been running B&B Perruque since 2022, and we absolutely love it! We do our very best to ensure our guests have a wonderful time. A happy guest means happy owners! Fortunately, our Jimmie is usually happy too, and he helps out wherever he can.

We’re from Utrecht and decided to change direction during the pandemic (see interview below). B&B Perruque is open practically all year round. We’ve now also turned our B&B into group accommodation. Ask us about the options – we’re happy to help.

A change of direction

Rogier and Iris are really looking forward to taking over Perruque. ‘First and foremost: we’ll do everything we can to make your stay as comfortable as possible, just as you’ve come to expect from Janny and Nico! For us, hospitality, a friendly atmosphere and a personal touch are our top priorities,’ says the enthusiastic couple.

The couple from Utrecht have decided to make a fresh start, leave the Randstad behind and move to Friesland! Rogier is a lecturer at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and Iris has been working in the media for over a decade, currently on a daily talk show. She is also a PE teacher and a wedding official. She hopes to continue with the latter two roles in Friesland, alongside running Perruque.

Excited about Friesland

What prompted the bold decision to change jobs and move from the big city to the Frisian village of Koudum? ‘We’re still very happy in our jobs, but over the past few years we’ve had lots of discussions about running a business together,’ says Iris. Rogier adds: ‘As we already have experience running a B&B in Utrecht, this was the most logical choice for us. In the Randstad, expanding isn’t financially viable. And our holiday in Friesland last summer made us enthusiastic about this northern province.’

Rogier continues: ‘We also believe we complement each other well in our day-to-day work. For instance, as a journalist, Iris is naturally curious and enjoys chatting to everyone. Through her work, she’s very used to inspiring people and making sure they’re happy. For my part, I’m good at keeping track of what needs to be done and keeping an eye on our long-term vision. What’s more, neither of us shies away from hard work.’

New ideas

Iris continues: ‘We’re really looking forward to this new challenge and already have all sorts of ideas, such as offering set menus. For example, we’ve decided to offer our guests three-course meals – home cooking, in other words. We’re already trying out dishes on our family and friends!’

Rogier and Iris are looking forward to welcoming lots of guests, but they’re also keen to learn more about Friesland. ‘It’s still a bit of a new province for us and there’s so much left to discover! It’s almost a shame that we won’t have much time ourselves to go exploring during the high season, but we are curious to hear about our guests’ experiences,‘ says Rogier, ’Iris is even learning German already!‘ ’Yes, because of course I want to be able to talk to our German guests too! First I need to get to grips with German, and hopefully Frisian one day as well,’ says the enthusiastic new owner.

As you can see, you’re more than welcome to come and stay, have breakfast and dine at the Frisian Perruque (now with a touch of the Randstad). ‘We also offer packed lunches for when you’re on the go,’ says Rogier. In short, you’ll want for nothing!
